Frequently Asked Questions
If you're considering Mellenza for menopausal or hormonal hair thinning, these are the questions women ask most often. Anything missing? Email support@mellenza.com and we'll add it.
Is menopausal hair loss really reversible?
In most cases of menopausal androgenetic alopecia, the follicles are not dead. They've been chemically silenced by DHT, which shortens the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle. Research published from 2011 onwards shows that interrupting the local DHT activity at the follicle can extend anagen and bring the follicle back to producing normal hair. Mellenza is designed against that mechanism. Topical, not oral, because the silencing happens locally.
How long until I see results?
Most women notice less shedding within 4–8 weeks. Visible regrowth at the part typically appears at week 9–12 with consistent daily use. The protocol is twelve weeks because the hair cycle is twelve weeks. We recommend photographing your part on day 1 and day 90 and comparing — visual change is the most reliable measure.
Why a topical scalp serum and not a supplement, tablet, or vitamin?
Because the follicle silencing is local, not systemic. The intervention has to be local too. A topical serum delivers the actives directly to the scalp, where the silencing is happening. Mellenza is not a supplement, not a pill, not a tablet, not a vitamin. It is sprayed on the scalp at night.
Is it safe to use every day?
Yes. The protocol is built around daily nightly use. Short of a specific irritation reaction (which is rare), there is no reason to skip days, and skipping stretches the timeline.
Can I use Mellenza alongside HRT?
Mellenza is a topical product applied externally to the scalp. Many women using HRT use Mellenza alongside it. If you have specific medical questions, raise them with your GP or menopause specialist. We're not in a position to give clinical advice.
Can I use it during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Speak to your clinician before starting. We don't recommend Mellenza during pregnancy or breastfeeding without that conversation, even though the product is topical.
Will it work for my type of hair loss?
Mellenza is formulated for the most common pattern in menopausal women — widening at the part, thinning at the crown, increased shedding driven by hormonal shifts. If your hair loss is driven by a different cause (severe nutritional deficiency, autoimmune alopecia areata, scarring alopecia), the topical-DHT-interruption mechanism is a less direct fit, and you may need clinical input. The 90-day guarantee is the simplest way to test.
Can I use Mellenza alongside minoxidil?
Yes — they target different mechanisms (minoxidil widens follicle blood vessels; Mellenza is built around DHT-related silencing and microcirculation). Some women run them together. Apply at different times (e.g. minoxidil morning, Mellenza night) so neither dilutes the other.
Will my hair fall out faster at first?
Some women notice a small "dread shed" in the first two weeks of any new scalp protocol — older, weaker hairs releasing as new growth phases start. It usually settles by week 3. If shedding persists past week 4 or worsens, stop and email us.
Does the bundle work better than the spray alone?
The spray is the load-bearing piece. The bundle exists because heavy shampoos and residue-leaving conditioners can blunt how a topical serum performs. If you already have a gentle, sulfate-free wash routine, the spray alone is sufficient. If your existing wash routine includes volumising or stripping shampoos, the bundle is worth it.
What if it doesn't work for me?
Use it daily for 90 days. Photograph your part on day 1 and day 90. If you can't see a meaningful difference, you get your money back, no questions about whether you "used it correctly." That is the guarantee.
How is Mellenza different from other hair growth products?
Three things: (1) It is topical, formulated against the local DHT mechanism rather than as a systemic intervention. (2) The protocol is twelve weeks, mapped to the hair cycle, not a "results in 7 days" promise. (3) The five actives — caffeine, polygonum multiflorum, arginine, biotin, ginger — are chosen against the anagen-extension mechanism rather than for marketing.
Is it tested on animals?
No. Mellenza is cruelty-free.
